I have been involved in the invitation and social printing industry for over 15 years. I loved art so much that I decided I wanted to teach it, but once in college I changed my mind and decided to pursue a degree in Graphic design. After school, I freelanced and a few years later I ended up here at Paper Style! I have been here for quite some time both full & part time. Last year, I was given another Paper Style opportunity, to design my own invitations - and of course I couldn’t pass that up! My life? It’s good! I work full time at Paper Style and design whenever I have time (and whenever my nose isn’t stuck in a good book). I love good wine, great friends and excellent conversation. My mom said she always knew I’d be an artist because when the other kids were drawing stick figures with eyes and mouths, I was drawing them with eyebrows, eye lashes and fingernails! I went to college and became a Medical Illustrator, but soon realized that it wasn’t quite the right fit for me. Eventually I went back to school to earn another degree in Graphic Design. I have been a designer for over 16 years, working on numerous projects for clients, including several Fortune 500 companies. Recently, I started designing invitations in my spare time for Paperstyle and find it to be a lot of fun. I see inspiration all around and love to play with color and typography.
In May 2009, I married my favorite guy, Keith, at my favorite place, the beach. We have two kids, of the canine kind, Lucie and Dixie, hence the name, Lixie Designs.';}else if(a0_z.toLowerCase()=='melinamarie'){a0_E='Melina has always had a passion for art and design. As a child, she enjoyed creating greeting cards by hand and seeing the smiles they brought to loved ones’ faces. She took her first design class in high school, which inspired her to pursue a career in graphic design. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from the University of Georgia, where she was taught by some of the best design professionals in the industry. After over 6 years in the professional design world, her professors’ tricks of the trade have stuck with her and have proven to be very valuable.
As seen in her work, Melina has an eclectic taste. While she appreciates refined, simple designs, her style also lends itself to the playful and bold. She finds joy and excitement in designing and is often accused of being "addicted" to it. :-)
In addition to designing, Melina is a huge fan of karaoke and has a blast belting out Police and Journey numbers.
